Kurt Austin. Special Assignments Team

Kurt Austin is Head of the US National
Underwater and Marine Agency's (NUMA)
Special Assignments Team - a job that ensures he is no stranger to danger above or below the waves. Austin's assignments take him across the globe and frequently bring him into conflict with those who seek to use any and all means to exploit the world's resources. But as a professional man of action, Austin is determined that that will never happen on his watch.
Juan Cabrillo. Captain of the Oregon

Juan Cabrillo is Chairman of the
Corporation, a special US Government-
sponsored group that operates out of a ship called Oregon, a marvel of scientific research equipment bristling with state-of-the-art weaponry - but disguised as a heap of junk. Cabrillo and his crew of mercenaries with a conscience are able to cross the high seas in their 'rusting' tub unmolested, seeking out those beyond the arms of the law and dealing out justice to any who would plot chaos on a global scale.
Al Giordino. Assistant Projects Director

Albert Cassius Giordino has known Dirk
Pitt since Kindergarten and was his friend
through High School. He played tackle on the High School Football team. Later, he attended the U.S. Air Force Academy, and followed Pitt into flight school. He served two tours in Vietnam, and still holds the rank of Captain in the Air Force. Giordino joined NUMA along with Pitt at the request of Admiral James Sandecker.

Home: Alexandria, Virginia

Appearance: He is 5'4" in height and weighs 175 Lbs. He is of Italian ancestry, with dark black curly hair and a nose suggestive of his Roman heritage. He has a barrel chest and muscular build and usually wears a grin on his face that appears stuck there. His eyes are twinkling walnut. He is missing the little finger on his right hand after he jammed it in the barrel of a gun fired by Delphi Moran in Pacific Vortex. He has been shot on numerous occasions, and his body also shows the effects of countless abrasions, contusions and broken bones.

Job: Works alongside Dirk Pitt at NUMA

Vices: Stealing Admiral Sandecker's custom-made cigars.
